On May 16, 2026, International Anthem presented “Music Is the Story: A Life in Music Supervision, Storytelling and Sync” at The Land School in Chicago. For an afternoon, Jocelyn Michelle Brown, Reality Club’s founder, walked through her path in music: How a song moves from an artist’s catalog into film, television and beyond, the pivots along an unorthodox route through the industry, and how sound moves through story, commerce and community.

After the talk, she hosted Listening Hours in A Listening Space with fellow music supervisor Gabe McDonough.

The full talk runs 1 hour and 9 minutes. More about Jocelyn Michelle Brown.

With gratitude

Thanks to Pogi Studios in Chicago, who shot every minute of the talk: Easy to work with, consummate professionals from start to finish, and a steady presence that put everyone at ease throughout the entire process.

Thanks to The Land School, Rebuild Foundation and Theaster Gates for opening their space and making everyone feel welcome.

Thanks to International Anthem and Scott McNiece for presenting the talk, and for their ongoing care and support, always.

Thanks to Gabe McDonough, a comrade in sound and a good sport, for coming to play records - we should do it more often.

Lastly and most importantly, thanks to all of the friends, family and attendees who took time out of their weekends to gather in the spirit of community and curiosity. It meant the world to me that you came, and I will never forget that you did.
